Spark 2013

The Idea Competition for Cardiff University Students

What is Spark2013?

Spark2013 is the annual Ideas Competition for Cardiff University Students. With overall prize money of £5000 available, Spark2013 will give seven Cardiff University students financial support to develop their ideas. Spark is part of the business start up support available through Cardiff University Enterprise which includes business workshops and individual support.

How does it work?

1. Select an entry level:

There are 3 entry levels to pick from. These levels are IDEAS, PLAN & VENTURES.

The IDEAS level is for those with a potential idea which is felt may have commercial potential but not investigated it in a structured manner as yet.

The PLAN level is designed for those who may have performed a reasonable level of research or possibly some level of testing for the idea or product.

The VENTURES level is open to those already running businesses, projects, or even freelancing. The entry level is self selective, but if you would like to discuss this before entry, please contacts us.

2. Answer 10 questions and submit online:

Each entry level allows you to complete an entry form by simply answering 10 questions about your idea. All entry forms and other resources can be found to the right. All completed forms can be submitted online to with Spark2013 as the subject title. All entries will be assessed by a team of reviewers with feedback emailed back to enable you make changes and update your plan. You can have your entry reviewed through this process as often as you like up until 19 April 2013. There is also an option of face-to-face review meetings if you prefer.

After the final deadline submission day, short listed entries will go forward to present their idea to a small panel of judges to decide final winners.
