With an annual budget of £460 million, almost 6,000 staff and 26,300 students, it is a member of the Russell Group of the 24 leading UK research-intensive universities. ‘The Way Forward’ describes how the University will deliver against its ambitions to be ranked consistently among the top 100 universities in the world and its Research, Innovation and Enterprise priorities and objectives. Cardiff University is also developing its Innovation System through an ambitious programme of investment in people and in its Research and Innovation infrastructure. Research funding awards from competitive, external sources (grants and contracts) already amount to over £100 million annually and the University aims to grow this through winning further grants for its excellent research from the UK Research Councils and charities, industry, government and from European Commission and other international sources.
