Request access to your data
If you would like to see the personal data that Cardiff University holds about you, you can apply under the Data Protection Act.
You will need to submit a written request, known as a Subject Access Request, to the Assurance Service Team, enclosing:
- the standard fee of £10 (cheque made payable to Cardiff University)
- proof of identify - such as staff or student ID card, or copy of driving licence or passport.
The University has 40 days to respond to your request once it has received all the relevant information and the standard £10 fee.
We encourage you to complete the Subject Access Request form to help us accurately identify the location(s) of the personal data.

What access might not be granted?
In accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998, as amended by the Freedom of Information Act 2000, access may not be granted to personal data held for the purposes of employment, eg personnel/human resources records, where these are held in unstructured or semi-structured manual format only.
