Freedom of information
The Freedom of Information Act 2000 requires us to make available the information we hold, unless an exemption applies.
We are required to do this in two different ways. Firstly we are required to maintain a publication scheme which sets out information we routinely make available to the public.
Secondly we are required to respond to written requests for information that is not covered by the publication scheme. Unless an exemption applies, the University is obliged to release the information, normally within 20 working days.
Another set of legislation governs access to environmental information, the Environmental Information Regulations 2004. The impact of these is broadly similar to that of the Freedom of Information Act.
We also provide information on data protection, what personal data we can collect, how it can be used and to whom we can disclose the data.
