Trans policy

We celebrate and value the diversity of our community, and are committed to providing a supportive environment for trans staff and students.

Trans is an inclusive term describing all those whose gender expression falls outside the typical gender norms; including those who live continuously outside gender norms, sometimes with, and sometimes without, medical intervention.

No two trans lives or people are the same. We have worked with members of the trans community to develop our policy in order to ensure it effectively and efficiently supports all staff and students during their transition and time at our University

We are proud to have been recognised by Stonewall for our efforts so far:

• we are a Stonewall Diversity Champion
• we are ranked 10th out of 100 employers in the Stonewall Workplace Equality Index 2020, making us the best performing Higher Education Institution in the survey
• we have also been recognised by Stonewall as a Top Trans Employer.
