Planning is a department within the University’s central Professional Services.   The Department provides support to the Vice-Chancellor and University Executive Board in the development of strategy, in maintaining awareness of the University’s performance (including benchmarking and key performance indicators), in managing relationships with funders and government agencies on policy matters, and in supporting the evaluation of business cases for major strategic developments.   Planning also supports specific projects, for instance REF preparations, and specific task and finish groups within the University.

Planning supports the University Executive Board and its members by:   

• Advising on the development of strategies, policies and plans;
• Providing and analysing evidence for decision-making;
• Keeping the external context under review;
• Co-ordinating strategic projects; Co-ordinating the University’s Planning, Budgeting and Performance Review process.
