Research Fellowships

The School of Physics and Astronomy invites those wishing to pursue a career in research post-PhD to apply for a range of fellowships.

These opportunities are available at various times throughout the year.

Science and Technology Funding Council (STFC) Ernest Rutherford Fellowships

The School will be supporting two applications for the 2023 STFC Ernest Rutherford Fellowships.

Candidates who wish to apply need to send their applications to us by 18 July 2023. Please send a narrative CV, a list of publications and research outputs, and an outline proposal (of a maximum length of four slides of A4 including references, diagrams and illustrations) using the format required for the STFC application to InserraC@cardiff.ac.uk, or you can contact Dr Cosimo Inserra or Prof Erminia Calabrese for more details.

Royal Society University Research Fellowship (URF)

The School will be supporting applications for the 2023 Royal Society University Research fellowship.

Candidates who wish to apply are encouraged to contact a staff member to devise a proposal. The staff member can then advice to the internal peer-reviewed procedure and timeline. You can contact Dr Cosimo Inserra for more details.
