BRAIN GAMES, 11am-4pm, 16th March 2014, National Museum Cardiff.
The Brain Games will be run at The National Museum on 16th March 2014 (Brain Awareness Week). This will be for primary age children and will also involve visiting primary schools in advance of this date to promote the event and set a neuro art competition Dr Emma Lane is involved in this..
Description: A series of interactive exhibits aimed at primary school years 4-6, where children will score points for taking part in a number of brain-related activities in fun, competitive format. Children will collect stamps at each ‘base’ on a brain-shaped score card. We will demonstrate visual adaptation, motor skills, brain stimulation, non-invasive imaging and memory. There will also be a talk about the brains of dinosaurs which will complement the dinosaur display at the museum.
Dr Emma Kidd and Dr Rhian Thomas organised 2 back-to- back assemblies in Whitchurch Primary School on Thursday 24th October 2013 as part of the Brain Games initiative. The people behind the Brain Games have committed to doing an assembly in all the 91 primary schools in Cardiff by the end of this academic year. The children are given a book at the end so that they can find out more about their brain. The children learnt about some of the things their brains can do and they and their teachers took part in various interactive activities.
