Pharmacy Postgraduate Students Edward Sayers, Jenny Wymant and Edward Hayes joined up with postdoctoral researcher Jessica Roberts (Dentistry) and acting group Angel Exit Theatre at the Green Man Festival this year to demonstrate some of the science behind wound healing.
This was part of the EPSRC/CITER/Cardiff University Public Engagement award to demonstrate Tissue Engineering for Human Healing obtained by Dr Arwyn Jones (Pharmy), Dr Bob Steadman (Medic) and Dr Pete Griffiths (Chem). At the event the students introduced key principles of wound healing by acting out the cellular processes involved, using stage make-up to recreate skin lacerations and exhibiting home-made maggot dressings!
Following the event, the organiser wrote to say: Thank you so much for being involved with Science at Play this year in Einstein's Garden. I have had some great comments about the scar collectors including some people saying it was their favourite thing of the festival.
