Death of Dr Robin Davies

It is with great sadness that we report that our colleague, Dr Robin Davies, passed away after a short illness on 7th October 2011.
Robin was a familiar presence in the School and a much respected colleague and true gentleman who will be greatly missed.
A chemist by training, Robin came to the School in 1985 as Senior Research Associate after a career in ICI Pharmaceuticals. He established Muscagen Ltd, a company specialising in drug design that had active research collaborations in the School, notably with Prof Ken Broadley and Prof Chris McGuigan.
Robin was also a great rugby enthusiast, having played for Oxford as blindside flanker in his student days and then the London Welsh, which he captained in 1959. He won six caps for Wales , scoring a try in his debut against Scotland in Murrayfield in February, 1957
The funeral service for Robin Davies was held in the Wenallt Chapel, Thornhill Crematorium, Cardiff on Monday 17th October at 3.30pm.
