The two plus two year pharmacy degree programme in collaboration with Taylor's University College, Malaysia has received preliminary approval from RPSGB.

On November 9th/10th an RPSGB accreditation team visited Taylor's University College to consider the collaborative provision of an MPharm programme with the Welsh School of Pharmacy.

Subject to conditions, the panel approved a first intake of students for September 2010 which allows Cardiff University and Taylor's University College to proceed from step 1 to step 2 of the process for accrediting MPharms delivered in part overseas.

Cardiff University and Taylor's University College are working towards full accreditation with the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain for their MPharm delivered in part in Malaysia.

The continuation of this collaboration will be subject to satisfying the requirements of regulatory bodies in Great Britain (the Royal Pharmaceutical Society at present, soon to be replaced by the General Pharmaceutical Council) and Malaysia (the state Malaysian Pharmacy Board).

N.B. The existing MPharm taken by students at Cardiff University is fully accredited in the UK.  The Welsh School of Pharmacy has been an accredited course provider since the 1930's.
