Innovation and Impact Awards 2015

Winning partnership:  The People's Choice Award was presented to Prof Jean-Yves Maillard with GAMA and KTP Associates to tackle hospital 'superbug' infections has been named the Peoples Choice at Cardiff University's Innovation and Impact Awards 2015.

'Superbug' wet wipe project wins innovation award

Congratulations to Prof Jean-Yves Maillard who has been awarded the Business Innovation prize in the University's Innovation and Impact Awards 2015.  The project was a KTP with GAMA Healthcare whcih developed sporicidal wet wipes to tackle hopsital C. Difficile contamination. 

Acelarin Cancer Drug

The potential impact of a new cancer drug invented in Cardiff (Prof Chris McGuigan's lab) is designed to stop patients becoming resistant to common therapies in treating cancer of the lung, overy, breast, colon and pancreas.

Prof Les Baillie is using bees in an attempt to find new drugs to treat hospital infections because of the problem of antibiotic-resistant bacteria. (20 April 2015)
