Pharmacy Clinical Practice (Community and Primary Care) (MSc/Diploma/Certificate)

Please Note: This course is only eligible for pharmacists working in the U.K.
At the end of the Diploma course students will be able to:
- Demonstrate an enhanced knowledge and understanding of therapeutics
- Demonstrate an application of knowledge and skills in medicines management, prescribing and management of minor ailments
- Demonstrate the ability to consult effectively with patients and communicate with other members of the healthcare team
- Demonstrate an active role in public health
- Recognise, evaluate and respond to evidence based practice
- Demonstrate the core skills involved in prescribing support
- Demonstrate a reflective approach to continuing professional development (CPD)
Note: The Certificate / Diploma in Pharmacy Clinical Practice provides educational support for Medicines Use Review (MUR), Enhanced services and accreditation support for CPD.
Postgraduate Diploma students generally complete the diploma over a two year period, (but this can be extended to a maximum of four years) and comprises 8 modules. (see course structure)
Postgraduate Certificate students may also register for the certificate, which is usually one year of study, comprising four modules.
Stand alone modules
Students may elect to take an individual module on a stand-alone basis. These are open to hospital pharmacists or other healthcare professionals who wish to expand their knowledge of a specific area of therapeutics, public health or medicine management. Admission Criteria
Prospective students should be a registered practising pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) and be working in practice in the U.K. for at least one day a week. The course is targeted at pharmacists working in primary care organisations or community pharmacy. (see eligibility)

A limited number of bursaries are available on request for self-funding students outside a 100 mile radius from Cardiff University.
How to apply
All application forms must be received by 31st July 2011 for entry into the course commencing in September 2011.
Late applications may be considered (but will not be guaranteed). However early applications are recommended.
Prospective students wishing to take stand-alone modules or join the course later in the year must apply at least 6 weeks before the module study weekend.
