Research Interests
The Gene Delivery Research Group was established in 2001 to develop novel strategies to overcome the extra- and intra-cellular barriers associated with the delivery of macromolecules and DNA to the lung and skin. Specific projects exploit leading UK and European expertise in the use of microfabricated microneedles for transcutaneous drug delivery and a world leading capability in delivering genes to human skin via microneedles. The Group has also developed and patented innovative technologies for the preparation of stable and efficient dry powder and metered dose inhaler formulations for pulmonary gene therapy.
