Dr Elena Bellomo holds a Ph.D. in Medieval History from the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore di Milano, Italy (2001). She is a specialist in medieval Genoa, the crusades and the medieval military-religious orders, particularly the Order of the Temple. 

Her publications on medieval Genoa, the First Crusade and the Templars include A servizio di Dio e del Santo Sepolcro: Caffaro e l'Oriente latino (2003) and The Templar Order in North-West Italy: 1142–c.1330 (2008).

Dr Elena Bellomo holds a Ph.D. in Medieval History from the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore di Milano, Italy (2001). She has worked at the Università degli Studi di Padova and the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore di Milano,  Italy; in the USA at the Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies, State University of New York at Binghamton, New York, and the Department of History, Rutgers University, New Jersey, in the Dipartimento di Scienze dell'Antichità, del Medioevo e geografico-ambientali (DISAM) at the Università degli Studi di Genova, Italy; and currently works as a Cultore della materia in History, in the Dipartimento Tempo, Spazio, Immagine e Società at the University of Verona, Italy.
