Overview

I am a lecturer in Anatomy. I came to Cardiff in August 2016, taking on the lecturing position following completion of my PhD at the University of Leeds. I have a Bsc in Occpational Theray, MSc in Anatomy, MSc in Biomedical and Forensic Studies in Egyptology (Disticntion) and PhD in Biomedical Sciences.

At Cardiff, I teach anatomy to MEDIC Year 1 and Year 2, dental students and Practical Anatomy (BI2333). I also teach neuroanatomy to students for Fundamental Neuroscience (BI2432) as well as developmental anatomy to dental and medical students.

I am the assessment lead for BI2333, and the coordinator for Anatomy Practical for case 5 and 13 for MEDIC Year 1 and 2 students, respectively. I'm the Deputy Chair of Extenuating Circumstances for the School.

Prior to coming to the UK I taught various branches of anatomy including, gross anatomy, histology, embryology and neuroanatomy to medical students and health science students at the Faculty of Medicine, Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University (Bangkok, Thailand). Following my move to the UK, I undertook a Masters degree at the University of Manchester in Biomedical and Forensic Studies in Egyptology where I had the opportunity to apply my anatomy knowledge to facial reconstruction of CT scans using a haptic feedback system under the supervision of Prof Caroline Wilkinson. After completing this degree I secured an anatomy demonstrating PhD studentship at the University of Leeds. My PhD project sought to characterise neurones co-expressing GAD and ChAT in the brainstem and spinal cord. My PhD project was supervised by Prof Jim Deuchars. I also taught gross anatomy and neuroanatomy to medical and science students at the University of Leeds. Some of the areas I specialise in are head & neck, neuroanatomy and abdomen. My scholarly activities at Cardiff University focus on the development of learning resources.
