Overview

I am a trial manager/research associate at the Research Trials Centre. I have clinical trial experience in a wide range of disciplines. I am currently managing the Sono-breech study - evaluating the use of hand-held ultrasound devices to detect breech pregnancies; the Solutions trial - evaluating a solution focused therapy to children and young people presenting at a police custody suite; Stand Together - evaluating an anti-bullying programme called KiVa in schools; TAPERS trial - Treating Anxiety to PrevEnt Reslapse in pSychosis: a feasibility trial, funded by Research for Patient and Public Benefit (RfPPB) Wales; and the TTTS study - ultrasound-guided high intensity focusing ultrasound for the treatment of early pregnancy Twin-Twin Transfusion Syndrome funded by the MRC.

Previous trials I have managed include the following: PRINCESS trial - Probiotics to Reduce Infections iN CarE home reSidentS funded by NIHR EME; Building Blocks - Evaluating the Family Nurse Partnership program at Englnd; CREAM - Children with eczema, stuttering; A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study of RAD001 (Everolimus) in the treatment of neurocognitive problems in tubular sclerosis.

Biography

Education and qualifications:

1999 - 2004: University of Wales College of Medicine, Department of Adult Dental Health - Ph.D. titled Stem cells in human oral epithelium (funded by the MRC), awarded February 2004. The position of stem cells or stem cell zones were investigated in oral epithelium in vivo, and in vitro using cell culture and in a skin-like model (organotypic culture), using a variety of techniques.

May 2000: University of Wales College of Medicine, Diploma in Biomedical Methods (Pass) - A diverse range of laboratory methods and IT subjects were covered.

1992 - 1995: University of Wales Aberystwyth, B.Sc. (Hons.) in Genetics and Biochemistry (Class 2.1) - Studied agriculture, biochemistry, biological organisms and processes, biotechnology, genetics, medical biochemistry, microbial diversity and microbiology.
