Sally Walsh

Academic Manager

School of History, Archaeology and Religion

I lead and manage the Education and Students team that provides administration and support for teaching, programmes and students across undergraduate, postgraduate taught and postgraduate research.  The team supports activity across recruitment and admissions, enrolment, teaching delivery, student records, student cases, student voice, assessment and international exchange.

I support teaching strategy and programme development with a particular interest in quality assurance and learning technology.  I can advise on Academic Regulations and act as a key point of contact to the College's Education Team and Registry.  I provide support to the Director of Teaching and Learning and also work closely with the Directors for Admissions, PGT, PGR and International.  I attend University and College meetings to ensure the interests of the School feed into wider initiatives and that these are implemented as sensitively and effectively as possible  in our particular School environment.

I read French and German at King’s College, Cambridge but graduated from Nottingham University with a BA French and
Hispanic Studies. I lived in Spain and France for three years and spent a year in London before returning to my home town
and joining Cardiff University in 2005. I have broad experience in administrative and team management in the University, having worked in Human Resources, Registry and Postgraduate Medical and Dental Education.
I have a strong interest in bringing University initiatives into the School in as relevant and pragmatic a way as possible, trying to maintain robust compliance alongside a sensitive approach. I am also committed to working with Academic and Professional Services colleagues together to achieve common goals in terms of a postive working experience, work-life balance, and an excellent teaching and learning environment for both staff and students.
