Angelo Zavattini

Clinical Lecturer in Restorative Dentistry

Available for postgraduate supervision

I'm a Clinical Lecturer in Restorative Dentistry and  I am involved with the Dental Education, Scholarship and Innovation Theme within the Dental School. I deliver lectures and teach undergraduate students on clinic and in phantom head.

I have a special interest in Endodontic and I'm currently involved in the teaching aspect of that specialty.

My current research interest are related to the use of bioactive material in Restorative Dentistry and restorability of endodontically treated teeth.

Dr.Zavattini graduated cum laude in Dentistry in 2012 and started immediately his career in the Department of Restorative Dentistry of the University of Rome , Tor Vergata.

Backed by outstanding and technical knowledge he decided to move to London where he worked as a dentist with special interest in endodontic in several practices. During this time he was involved in research projects with King’s College of London and Eastman Dental Hospital.
Since qualified Angelo has continued his professional development attending courses, meeting and conferences and driven by the passion for research he completed in 2017 a PhD in Dental Materials.

During the last 3 years he has been working in different Hospitals across the United Kingdom and received further training in restorative dentistry and oral surgery.

At the present he is an Academic Clinical Lecturer in Restorative Dentistry.

Aside from his profession Dr.Zavattini enjoys swimming, running, sailing and kite-surfing

Dr.Zavattini have been awarded a PhD in Dental Material " Cum Laude" form the University of Rome Tor Vergata and his research experience and interest lie in the field of bioactive material used in adhesive dentistry and endodontic. Always open to multidisciplinary collaboration Dr.Zavattini worked as a research fellow at King's College, London and Eastman Dental Hospital where he developed new bioactive materials with remineralization properties.

He has a strong interest in statistical analysis and has been co-authors of an important Systematic Review conducted at the Eastman Dental Hospital.

His most recent research activities involves to investigate the microleakage of deep II class composite restoration with the use of Micro-CT scan. In addition to that he is currently involved in an international research program studying the effect of post space treatment and post treatment on bonding of fibre-reinforced post.

Projects:

  • The effect of post space treatment and post treatment on bonding of fibre-reinforced post.
  • Restorability of teeth: new classification method to estimate prognosis and guide for treatment planning of severely compromised teeth
  • Reliability of Bulk Fill Resin Composite used as a core material for the restorations of endodontically treated teeth.

I'm interested in supervising and helping students in the following fields:

  • Endodontic
  • Restorative
  • Biomaterial
  • Statistical analysis and Systematic Review
  • Case Reports
  • Audits
