My research focuses on identifying the direct and indirect links between climate change variables (rainfall, temperature, hours of sunlight etc) and population declines of the Pied Flycatcher in Wales.

I use a novel statistical method, Integral Projection Models (IPMs), to quantify the effect that plasticity of laying date has on survival and fecundity and how these all feedback into each other.

Using a historic data set from mid- South Wales and fieldwork from 2 sites in South and Mid Wales I aim to tease apart the changes in laying date due directly to climate from those indirectly related i.e. food availability.

(I'm also supervised by Dr. Sean Rands).
