What is PgCUTL?

‘We will educate our students to the very highest standards and support them through the transition to independent learning. The student experience at Cardiff will be a byword for excellence, where students actively participate in their learning experience and benefit from an environment of top quality research and scholarship…We will produce graduates who are delighted with their experience, who are well-rounded, flexible, mobile and highly employable individuals… ’ Cardiff University ‘The Way Forward 2012-17: Education and Students

The Postgraduate Certificate in University Teaching and Learning (PgCUTL) is one of the ways in which the University supports staff to develop and reflect upon their teaching and support of learning.  The programme provides an opportunity for personal development through critical, scholarship-underpinned exploration of teaching and learning support for all staff across their career span.

Why should I do all or part of PgCUTL

This is a collaborative programme, which values an individual’s contribution to the experience of the University’s students.  It is underpinned by the Professional Values for a HE teacher articulated in the UK Professional Standards Framework (UKPSF; http://www.heacademy.ac.uk/ukpsf)

Applying to the HEA for recognition against the UKPSF? Your application will need to be endorsed by the University before you submit it. Please forward completed application forms to staffdevelopment@cardiff.ac.uk labelled ‘HEA application for endorsement’. The Staff Development team will then organise the necessary endorsement and return to you for submission. For more information about the HEA recognition process please visit: http://www.heacademy.ac.uk/professional-recognition or attend one of our introductory workshops.
