“The University provides curricula that are intellectually stimulating and challenging; ensuring knowledge can be discovered, applied, disseminated and preserved; developing creativity and innovative thinking; and instilling values of professionalism and academic integrity. The University works in partnership with students to enable them to become independent and lifelong learners within a culture that fosters, promotes and respects equality, dignity and diversity” (Education Strategy 2011).

The Postgraduate Certificate in University Teaching and Learning (PCUTL) is one of the ways in which the University supports staff to develop and reflect upon their teaching and support of learning. The programme provides an opportunity for personal development through critical, scholarship-underpinned exploration of teaching and learning support for all staff across their career span.
This is a collaborative programme, which values an individual’s contribution to the experience of the University’s students. It is underpinned by the Professional Values for a HE teacher articulated in the UK Professional Standards Framework (UKPSF; http://www.heacademy.ac.uk/ukpsf)
Applying to the HEA for recognition against the UKPSF? Your application will need to be endorsed by the University before you submit it. Please forward completed application forms to staffdevelopment@cardiff.ac.uk labelled ‘HEA application for endorsement’. The Staff Development team will then organise the necessary endorsement and return to you for submission. For more information about the HEA recognition process please visit: http://www.heacademy.ac.uk/professional-recognition or attend one of our introductory workshops.
