The pathway to a degree in social science is perfect for adult learners looking for a way into higher education, especially those who have not studied for many years.
You will be taught by subject specialists who are highly experienced tutors. There is plenty of study support along the way and we welcome applications from students who may have been away from formal education for several years.
How it works
The pathway is made up of 60 credits and is the equivalent of 50% of the first year of your degree. You will study three 20 credit modules:
- Introduction to Social Science (20 credits)
- Social Policy (20 credits)
- Education and Society (20 credits).
You will need to enrol on these modules (courses), ensuring you enrol on the introduction to social science module before the start date.
You will study part-time for one year on the pathway and successful students will then transfer onto their degree at the School of Social Sciences. You can also complete the pathway over two years.
Our pathway to a degree offers an affordable route into Higher Education. You only have to sign up and pay for one module at a time and you have the option of splitting the cost into two instalments.
