JSPS Research Symposium

As part of the JSPS London Symposium and Seminar Scheme, we are delighted to announce a Research Symposium entitled "Stem Cells and the Eye".

The registration deadline is October 19 2017.

The symposium is being additionally supported by the BBSRC and is being co-organised by Professor Andrew Quantock (Cardiff University) and Professor Kohji Nishida (Osaka University).

Location: Hadyn Ellis Building, Cardiff, CF24 4HQ.

Objectives

  1. Bring together UK-based and Japan-based researchers with common interests in stem cell biology as applied to the eye and vision.
  2. Create a discussion forum where the emphasis will be placed on new advances in stem cells and their applications in relation to ophthalmology.
  3. Foster collaborations between UK and Japan-based researchers with shared interests in stem cell biology.

Program

The event will be opened by the Rt. Hon. Carwyn Jones AM, First Minister of Wales, and Cardiff University's Vice Chancellor, Prof. Colin Riordan.

We have an exciting line up of presentations including addresses by Professor Sir Martin Evans, FRS of Cardiff University and Dr Masayo Takahashi of the RIKEN Center for Developmental Biology, Japan.

Confirmed speakers include researchers from Cardiff, Nottingham, Newcastle, UCL, Oxford, Osaka, Kobe, and Kyoto.
