The starter pack will include the following items and also a locker in which you can store your bags and valuables:

The £240 deposit is fully refundable at the end of your studies provided that you return all of your equipment and that it is in good working order. The cost of each individual item will be deducted from your refund in the event of missing or damaged items.

You may also return your equipment at any point during the course of your studies if you wish to purchase your own equipment. Some students choose to do this in order to upgrade their equipment, especially trial frames. Should you need any advice on this, please speak to a staff member who will be able to discuss this with you.

We will provide ophthalmoscopes and retinoscopes for students to use in clinics, although some students choose to purchase their own.

This enables you to become accustomed to your own instruments prior to entering your pre-registration year.

GOC registration

GOC registration is also required in order to practice optometry.
