Module exemptions

Short courses and modules studied at other Universities may be able to count towards your postgraduate qualification with Cardiff University.

Our modules can also count towards other awarding bodies' qualifications too.

If you have taken a short course at Wales Optometry Postgraduate Education Centre (WOPEC) you will be exempt from some of our modules (and vice versa).

The College of Optometrists qualifications

If you have the following qualifications from the College of Optometrists you will be exempt from some of our modules (and vice versa):

CET points

We can provide CET points for successful completion of most modules.

Other universities

If you have already studied postgraduate modules at another university then you may be able to apply for accredited prior learning (APL), which may give you exemption from certain modules.

Acute Eye Care 1 via EHEW and LOCSU MECS

If you have completed the EHEW or LOCSU MECS course, you may be entitled to exemption from OPT004: Acute Eye Care 1 . For details, please email pgoptom@cardiff.ac.uk.
