Research Topics and Related Projects:

My current research involves the analysis of glaucomatous and healthy human optic nerve head (ONH) and retina in vivo. Subjects are imaged using a laboratory-based long-wavelength optical coherence tomography (OCT) device. The images are processed and analysed, with specific regions manually segmented and measured. Analysis of the ONH in vivo allows us a better understanding of the mechanisms of the glaucomatous disease process and the structural changes that occur as a result. We are using this to develop techniques for the detection of early ONH and retinal changes, before visual field loss occurs.
