Research Interests
I am a part-time lecturer based at the Retinal Imaging Laboratory within the School of Optometry where my research is on digital retinal imaging techniques and their use in glaucoma and diabetic macular oedema detection.
Previously we have used a variety of digital imaging techniques including a Scanning Laser Ophthalmoscope (Heidelberg Retina Tomograph) and simultaneous stereo photography to detect early glaucomatous changes at the optic disc and also for teaching the principles of optic nerve assessment.
We are currently assessing the value of digital stereo viewing, Scanning Laser Ophthalmoscopy (Heidelberg Retina Tomograph II), Optical Coherence Tomography and the Retinal Thickness Analyser in the quantification and detection of diabetic macular oedema.
This research is being carried out in conjunction with Dr RV North, Prof D Owens, Mr JE Morgan and Prof JM Wild.
