Research Interests

My main area of research interest is into visual function in age-related macular degeneration (AMD). I have been working on the development of clinical tests which are sensitive to the earliest changes in function which occur in this condition. I am particularly interested in the use of electrophysiological tests to allow an objective assessment of macular function in AMD.

A further area of interest is the development of electrophysiological techniques for the objective assessment of retinal adaptation following exposure to a bright light source. A further area of interest is the development of electrophysiological techniques for the objective assessment of retinal adaptation following exposure to a bright light source.

I am also interested in improving understanding of the relationship between visual function and retinal structure in healthy and diseased eyes.

Additional Information

I have co-responsibility within the School for the organisation of a series of seminars designed to widen the understanding of all staff members and postgraduate students about new research in all areas of vision science.
