Dr Katrin Buerger

1978-2011

Katrin was tragically killed in an accident during a ski expedition to Norway in February 2011.

Katrin joined Cardiff School of Biosciences on 4 October 2010 and in her short time here she proved herself to be a highly capable and committed scientist and a thoroughly genuine and likeable person.

Katrin's post at Cardiff was her first post-doctoral position following an undergraduate degree, masters degree and PhD at the University of Edinburgh (College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine). Colleagues have described her as delightful, bright and enthusiastic, with great tenacity, flexibility, versatility and a strong work ethic. Katrin had all the makings of a promising research scientist and it is a great pity that her full potential will not be realised.

Katrin's infectious optimism and wonderful sense of humour will be sorely missed by all who knew her. The thoughts of everyone at the School are with Katrin's family and friends at this time.
