THELMA 2017

Cardiff University has been shortlisted for a prestigious Times Higher Education Leadership and Management Award (THELMA).

The nomination is in the ‘Knowledge Exchange/Transfer Initiative of the Year’ category, which recognises the most innovative and original initiative in knowledge exchange or transfer in the academic year 2015-16.

The University has committed itself to the development of an Innovation System, which drives productivity and prosperity by investing in people, places and partnerships.

It includes the hiring of talented international academics, state-of-the-art facilities for industrial collaboration, the development of industry-focused degrees and the formal establishment of joint-ventures with external partners.

Professor Hywel Thomas, Pro Vice-Chancellor Research, Innovation and Engagement, said: “I am delighted that the University has been shortlisted for a THELMA. We want the benefits of our research to be shared as widely as possible..."

"Breakthroughs rarely happen in silos, so we need an Innovation System to connect the necessary expertise."

Professor Hywel Thomas Pro Vice-Chancellor, Research, Innovation and Engagement

"The nomination is testament to the work of our talented staff and students who are turning great ideas into new ways of working with private, public and third sector partners.”

The winner will be announced during a ceremony on 22 June 2017 at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London.
