Professor Roberta Sonnino, Director of Impact in the School of Geography and Planning has been sharing her experiences and helping to guide researchers seeking to maximise their chances of funding.

The University provides advice and guidance to academics developing their impact elements of Pathways to Impact sections of grant applications.  This has included workshops for staff where Roberta has presented her thoughts and advice drawing on extensive experience of the process.

Roberta said: “Pathways to Impact statements can be daunting for the unfamiliar, or a frustration to those who want to focus solely on their research statement; but working on these statement offer a unique opportunity to consider, plan for, and communicate how your research will benefit the world, and with a bit of thought should not be burdensome during the grant writing process.”

Drawing on years of winning and judging RCUK grant funding Roberta has written a blog for staff to share her experience with colleagues, and help guide them through the stages of developing impact statements.
