A group of professionals from universities in China have heard first-hand about the challenges and highlights of leading a Russell Group university.

In a networking event for delegates attending the Cardiff University China Scholarship Council University Management Programme, President and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Colin Riordan, spoke about his experiences developing and implementing Cardiff University’s strategy, The Way Forward.

The group heard about some of the key challenges Professor Riordan has faced during his tenure, observations on the implementation of the new University structure, and how the University is developing its relationships with China.

The event concluded with an exchange of gifts, where the group presented Professor Riordan with a gift to symbolise success and friendship.

The 36 professionals from universities throughout China are half way through a 12 week professional development programme, updating their knowledge on a variety of topics including change management, human resources and developing academic teams.
