Santander UK has awarded Cardiff University funding worth £53,900 to help undergraduate students achieve their goals.
The funding is part of Santander UK's new three year campaign – 3,500 Hopes and Dreams - which aims to help university students across the UK study abroad or undertake an internship.
This year, the main focus of the Cardiff scholarships is on giving students the chance to undertake three-month internships with SMEs in South Wales.
The campaign was launched by Emilio Botin, Chairman of the Santander Group at the fifth Santander Universities UK Vice-Chancellors Meeting, where guests included Cardiff's Vice-Chancellor, Professor Colin Riordan, and prominent figures from the financial, academic and political scenes including David Willetts, Minister for Universities and Science.
Vice-Chancellor, Professor Riordan said: "This generous scholarship package will help support Cardiff students' mobility and promote international exchange. It opens up new opportunities for our undergraduates and postgraduates to study or work abroad and means we can welcome talented students from the global community to Cardiff, Wales and the UK."
Cardiff has a strong relationship with Santander and was the first Welsh University to receive funding from Santander in 2008.
In total, Santander Universities Global Division will fund UK universities with £32million in the next 3 years as part of the Hopes and Dreams campaign.
