Building links with Beijing

The University recently hosted a delegation from Beijing Normal University China to explore potential for future social science collaboration.

During their visit Professor Zhu Hongwen and Professor Zhao Wei met with Cardiff academics from the School of Social Sciences, and associated research centres including the Wales Institute of Social and Economic Research, Data & Methods (WISERD) and the Sustainable Places Research Institute.

Commenting on the visit Dr Abid Mehmood from the Sustainable Places Research Institute said, “It was a pleasure to meet and discuss potential for closer working with colleagues in the Beijing Normal University, including our plans for bilateral research symposiums and workshops in Cardiff and Beijing over the next two years.”

The School of Social Sciences has recently extended its international links to strengthen education, research and innovation partnerships between the UK and emerging knowledge economies. Professor Susan Baker and Dr Abid Mehmood will be involved with some of these new collaborations on behalf of the Sustainable Places Research Institute.
