We are proud to be sponsoring the Dame Joan Sutherland Audience Prize at this year’s BBC Cardiff Singer of the World competition.

BBC Cardiff Singer of the World is a competition known throughout the classical music world as the premier showcase for opera and concert singers at the outset of their careers.

Twenty talented singers from around the world will compete in Cardiff from 14-21 June 2015 for the coveted title and trophy. The Dame Joan Sutherland Audience Prize will be awarded on 21st June to the favourite singer as voted for by competition audiences. Voting is by telephone and online and is open between 2pm on Friday 19 June and 2pm on Sunday 21 June.

Professor Kenneth Hamilton, Head of the School of Music, said: “BBC Cardiff Singer of the World is a wonderful celebration of the next generation of talented young singers.  In my role as both Head of a vibrant music department and Dean for International at our College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, I am pleased that Cardiff University can contribute to this event which brings such a high calibre of talent into our capital city. And I’m very much looking forward to seeing who wins the Audience Prize!”
