On Sunday 12th May staff and tutors from Cardiff Confucius Institute attended the Dragon Boat Festival at Cosmeston Lakes.

Twelve teams came to Cosmeston Lake to compete in the second Cardiff Dragon Boat Festival. The event was organised by 'Race the Dragon' as an open fundraiser, meaning that participating teams were able to nominate and support their own charity. In total, nine different charities were supported this year.

Racing was over a distance of 200 meters and for most teams, this was their first time ever in a dragon boat. Luckily, dragon boating is a team building event that is quick to pick up, progressive in nature and ideal for both experienced crews and novices alike!

Members of the Cardiff Confucius Institute went along to support the festival by providing traditional Chinese activities for participants and their families to try. The team welcomed donations from anyone who wanted to try some Chinese tea, have a go at calligraphy or make a Chinese paper cutting. People of all ages got involved and all funds raised were donated to Bobath Children's Hospice.
