Royal recognition

8 February 2018

Dr Alison Parken OBE

Dr Alison Parken, Senior Research Fellow in the Wales Centre for Public Policy at Cardiff Business School, has received an OBE in recognition of her work into equality and diversity.

Leading the Women Adding Value to the Economy project (WAVE), Dr Parken’s extensive research has built an evidence base for promoting socio-economic equality through policy-making and in organisational practices.

She said: “I'm delighted that research designed to promote equality and diversity has been recognised through the Honours system.”

Dr Parken collected her honour from the Prince of Wales at Buckingham Palace on 1 February 2018.

Reflecting on the award, she added: “While the award is in my name, it's entirely due to the inspirational and dedicated equalities champions from all walks of life that I’ve so enjoyed working with in Wales over many years. There’s still much more to do!”

Women Adding Value to the Economy

The Wave Team set out to support employers to undertake the analysis and action required by the 'equal pay duty', to ensure its effectiveness and to make lasting impact on gender pay disparities in Wales.
