World champion Nathan Cleverly back at University to help developing world’s boxers.

22 February 2012

Cardiff University is hosting a boxing training camp for 44 of the less wealthy nations from around the world. Some 51 male boxers and 17 females from all five continents are taking part in the high-intensity three week course, run by the Amateur International Boxing Association and supported by the Welsh Government, Sport Wales and Cardiff Council.

Nathan, who graduated from Cardiff in 2010, has kindly agreed to pass on some of his own expertise to the overseas fighters. He has offered to help boxers with some pad work and will also pass on tips and advice after watching them sparring. Nathan is in Cardiff as part of the build-up to his own WBO title fight against the USA’s Tommy Karpency at the Motorpoint Arena on Saturday. His visit fits in with the camp’s aim of using the very best expertise in Wales to help those from less fortunate nations.

You are invited to attend Nathan’s visit at:

The Sports Training Village, Talybont, Cardiff University CF14 3UX
Time: 12.45pm, Wednesday February 22, 2012-02-20

The visit will include photo opportunities with Nathan and the overseas boxers. Nathan and the boxers will also be available for interview.
