Kids can be hot shots at Cardiff University

Cardiff University’s Hot Shots activity camps offer children the opportunity to keep active and entertained during the summer holidays.

Based at Cardiff University’s Sports Training Village, the camps combine sport, play, arts and craft into a fun-filled programme for children aged 8-14 years old. They provide a safe and secure environment for children to participate in a wide variety of activities. Qualified and experienced staff will be on hand to support children to engage in age-appropriate activities, paying particular attention to personal development and interaction with others.

Centre Manager Gwyneth Sheehan said: "Cardiff University wants to offer an affordable camp that is inclusive to all children. Often camps are specifically geared towards either sports or arts, but we wanted to create an environment that allows children to use our facilities and experience all kinds of entertainment during the summer holidays.

"The first year was a great success and we hope this continues through 2011 and beyond."

The Hot Shots Activity Camps run every weekday (except bank holidays) until Friday 2nd September 2011. Prices start from £25 a day and places can be booked by calling 029 20874675 or visiting www.cardiff.ac.uk/sport.

The Sports Training Village is located on the University’s Talybont Campus (close to Western Avenue). Its facilities include a state-of-the-art 3G surface approved by both the IRB and FIFA.

Sporting activities at the camps will include badminton, basketball, cricket, football, netball, tennis, table tennis, touch rugby, rounders, volleyball, dodgeball and athletics. Other activities will include arts and crafts, treasure hunts and much more.
