Keeping Team GB fit

Nicki Phillips, director of Postgraduate Healthcare Studies at Cardiff University has been announced as the Chief Physiotherapist to the British team for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.

The British Olympic Association revealed this week that Nicki would lead the British physiotherapy team, working alongside the Chief Medical Officer Dr Ian McCurdie.

Nicki qualified as a physiotherapist from Cardiff in 1982 and runs the MSc Sport and Exercise Physiotherapy programme at the University for physiotherapists specialising in this field.

She has vast experience of working with elite athletes at multi-sports events having been part of the physiotherapy team for Team GB at two Olympic Games, two Preparation Camps and six Commonwealth Games.

Commenting on her appointment, Nicki Phillips said:" I am honoured to have been selected as Chief Physiotherapist to Team GB for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games and look forward to working with Dr Ian McCurdie to deliver a first rate support service to our athletes during this period."

"Our aim is to play our part in making sure that every athlete in our care arrives for their competition in the best possible condition to allow them to perform at their best."
