Monday 29 October

Restaurants: Locally-sourced food will be on the lunch menu in Main, Trevithick and Julian Hodge restaurants. Herbs grown by Cardiff students in their allotments will also be used in some dishes during the week.

Exhibition: Take a look at the University’s conservation work at our Field Station in the jungle of Kinabatangan, Malaysia and see some of the animals they’ve caught on camera. VJ Gallery, Main Building from 9am-5pm.

Event: Sustainable Places Research Institute’s International Conference, places must be booked in advance.

Tuesday 30 October

Exhibition 2: Cardiff students have been growing their own fruit, vegetables and herbs at an allotment in Cardiff. Find out about their work in an exhibition in the Students’ Union reception area from 9am-5pm.

Event 1: Sustainable Places Research Institute’s International Conference, places must be booked in advance.

Event 2: Order your fruit and vegetables from the Your Uni Fruit and Veg Co-op. Visit the Students’ Union reception area between 11am and 4pm and order your bag for collection the following week. Bags cost £3.00.

Event 3: Andy Fryers, Greenprint Director for the Hay Festival talks about the responsibility of festivals to maximise the positive impacts and minimise their direct impacts on the environment. 6pm, Committee Rooms, Glamorgan Building. Places can be reserved at www.cardiff.ac.uk/cplan/events

Event 1: Charities Fair, VJ Gallery, Main Building. Staff and students can find out more about the work of local charities and organisations and get details of their latest volunteering opportunities. Drop in anytime between 11am and 3pm.

Event 2: Sustainable Places Research Institute second anniversary celebrations. Invite only.

Event 3: Dr Neil Gavin, University of Liverpool talks on the subject of ‘The British media and the impact (if any) of its climate change coverage’. The event takes place at 51a Park Place from 2.10pm – 3.30pm. No booking is needed.

Event 4: Do you care about Laboratory Waste and Sustainability? Come and be part of the solution. Join our Workshop on Laboratory Waste from 9:30am till 1pm on Thursday, 1st November 2012. There will a series of short talks and informal discussion. For more details contact Paul Brennan (BrennanP@cardiff.ac.uk).

Workshop: Dr Bike will be on the Heath Park site (in front of the Michael Griffiths Lecture Theatre) to provide free bike servicing. No booking is needed, just turn up between 12 midday and 3pm. Bikes can also be security marked at the same time.
