The development of the concept of aristocracy is to be traced by a distinguished visiting speaker from the Sorbonne in Paris tomorrow.
Dr Alain Duplouy, who is visiting Cardiff as part of a British Academy Fellowship in the UK is to lecture on "What is Aristocracy – An Ancient Greek Perspective."
Dr Duplouy, a leading archaeologist and ancient historian at the Sorbonne, will focus on ancient Greek History. However, this interdisciplinary lecture will also look at the wider theme of the definition and use of the term aristocracy and will be of interest to archaeologists, historians and sociologists specialising in all periods.
The free lecture is hosted by the School of History and Archaeology on Wednesday March 11 and is open to all. It begins at 5.10pm in Room 0.36.
