A new exhibition showcasing contemporary artists and their unique perspectives on visions of the immediate future is being launched at Cardiff University.

The Visionary exhibition is hosted by the School of Optometry and Vision Sciences and features 18 exciting artists from across Wales.

Work on display is a mix of media and ranges from wood sculptures to photography, ceramics, metalwork and mosaic art.

Visionary is the latest in a line of public art on show at the School. Previous exhibitions include Sight of Emotion, a selection of photographs taken by blind and partially sighted people from around the globe and Shifting Perspectives which was designed to challenge misconceptions surrounding the diagnosis of Down’s syndrome, as well as paintings produced by female Pakistani artists living in Wales.

Professor Tim Wess, Head of the School of Optometry and Vision Sciences said: "I am delighted to be hosting Visionary, combining our unique building resources with the talent of local artists to celebrate and showcase exceptional work in a diverse and exciting range of media."

The exhibition launched on Monday 8th November and will remain in place until Christmas. Staff, students and members of the public can view the collection during working hours (9am-5pm), Monday-Friday.
