The University is offering funding to help subsidise staff training budgets in small to medium size enterprises (SMEs).
The Cardiff University Leadership and Management Development Fund aims to support SMEs in developing key management skills to help remain competitive during economic downturn.
To take advantage of this opportunity a company should have SME status and be based in Wales. Funding of up to 50% of course cost is available for leadership, management and project management courses offered within the Open for Business programme at Cardiff Centre for Lifelong Learning until 31 July 2009. It is anticipated that this initial pilot scheme will then be extended to cover further courses during the year.
Clare Sinclair, Business Development Manager at Cardiff Centre for Lifelong Learning, said "In a recession the training budget is usually one of the first to go, especially for smaller businesses. Our courses respond to a local business need and the funding offered will enable more businesses to access them during this difficult time."
