A Science Strategy for Wales Web

The Welsh Government’s vision for a world-leading science base in Wales will be unveiled during a key note address by Wales’ Chief Scientific Officer.

Professor John Harries who was appointed to provide Welsh Government with scientific leadership and advice will use a public lecture at the University to reveal how this strategic agenda can steer Welsh science and engineering into the future.

Taking place on 15th March 2012, Professor Harries will be speaking for the first time in detail about the new strategic framework – ‘Science for Wales’, and will discuss how as a nation we can bring to Wales the full benefits of a strong and sustainable science base.

The lecture will be an opportunity to hear how business and industry; researchers and educators at all levels; government and the wider public sector - all those engaged with science in its widest sense - can work together to deliver this vision.

Professor John Harries’ lecture takes place at the Julian Hodge Building and starts at 6.30pm. A reception will take place beforehand from 5.45pm. Places are free and can be reserved by emailing

The key note address will be followed by a question & answer session.
