A new hardback book illustrating some of the University’s most outstanding achievements has been published as part of the 125th anniversary celebrations.
Serious Brain Power uses eye-catching images and design to bring alive our cutting-edge research, our enterprising students, our valued local, national and international partnerships, and our unique heritage and history. Readers will learn what scientists see under their microscopes and through their telescopes. They will meet the famous personalities who have graduated at Cardiff, encounter the rare animals environmentalists are battling to save - and learn how the University helped make Welsh sporting history.
The title reflects the University’s key strength – the intellectual talents of its staff and students – and also one of the book’s main themes – the interdisciplinary work by many Cardiff academics to understand the structure workings of the brain.
The book’s foreword is written by Lord Kinnock, the University’s President and also a former President of the Students’ Union. He says of the book: "It is part of a lively celebration of 125 years that will give pride and encouragement to past and present people of Cardiff University and, we hope, offer an inviting flavour to all who want to know more."
Serious Brain Power is 50 full colour pages and priced at £10. More information about how to order copies can be found at www.cardiff.ac.uk/brainpower.
