15 February 2012
The extraordinary diversity of the University’s student community will be celebrated with a week-long festival of culture and diversity.
Go Global, the Student Union’s annual event, runs from 18th to 26th February 2012. In conjunction with the Cardiff Guild of Societies and the international student community, the Union will be hosting more than 25 events, including dance and theatre workshops, taster sessions and even a World Cup tournament.
One of the highlights of the week will be Global Village, which takes place on 26th February at 5.30pm in the Great Hall. As well as introducing visitors to food from more than 20 countries, this event will also showcase some of the University’s talented students, with performances of Bollywood and Chinese dancing, an international fashion show and much more.
Football fans can also take part in the Go Global World Cup (19th), by emailing Societies Officer Harry Newman at email@example.com to register a team.
Other events include a hip hop dance class (20th), the Spanish and Italian Masquerade Ball (20th) and talks on international issues (21st, 22nd), as well as the annual Real Ale & Cider Festival (23rd and 24th).
Many of the University’s societies will be taking part in the festival. The Pakistani & YUVA Society Musical Extravaganza will take place on Friday 24th February in CF10, while the Asian Society Elements event will be held on Saturday 25th at the National Museum Wales.
More information about the Go Global Festival, which is a not for profit event, can be found at http://www.cardiffstudents.com/activities/societies/events/go-global.
All the week’s events are open to staff, students and members of the public, and there is a charge for some events.
