Go Global 2013

14 February 2013

Go Global

A festival celebrating the incredible diversity and culture that exists within the Cardiff student body will take place from the 18 – 24 February 2013.

Go Global is an annual event organised by the Students’ Union and in conjunction with the Cardiff Guild of Societies and the international student community with this year’s themes covering debates, faiths, celebrations and workshops. Our thriving international student community of more than 3,500 students from 100 different countries play a very significant role in the international life of our institution and across Wales.

The week will feature over 25 events including an international food festival held by the Erasmus Society, a Dolce Carnival hosted by the Spanish and Italian Society, a Real Ale & Cider Festival, a poker tournament and a battle of the words with the Atheist Society as they debate 'Does God Exist?'

Two of the highlights of the week are 'Refugee Rhythms', an evening where local refugees and asylum seekers will also be cooking up a feast of food from around the world as well as trying to raise funds and awareness and also Asian Societies Elements 2013 a celebration of love, fashion, culture and music - from Calcutta to Cardiff. The week will culminate in Go Global: The Show, a grand evening in the Great Hall on 24 February featuring cultural performances from across the world, with 18 societies involved and nearly 350 performers.

Adam Curtis, Cardiff University Students' Union Societies Officer said: "Whether you're an international or home grown Cardiff student, I passionately urge you to get involved with Go Global which is without a doubt one of the most exciting and dynamic weeks within the student calendar."

More information can be found about the Go Global Festival, which is a not-for-profit event at

All the week’s events are open to staff, students and members of the public, and there is a charge for some events.
