Trace mineral water from the rocks to the bottle, quiz the experts about sustainable development and laugh at the world’s ig Nobel science — all as part of National Science and Engineering Week 2007.
Running from 9-18 March, National Science and Engineering Week helps to bring a new focus to the debates that shape our lives. Events at Cardiff University will explore a range of topics including science and medicine, the role of women in science and engineering, and how to take a critical look at science in the media.
Among other attractions the famous Ig Nobel tour visits the University. The Ig Nobel Prizes honour achievements that first make people laugh, and then make them think. The prizes are intended to celebrate the unusual, honour the imaginative - and spur people's interest in science, medicine, and technology.The show features Marc Abrahams, organizer of the Ig Nobel Prizes, together with a gaggle of Ig Nobel Prize winners, including the two Welsh winners, and other great scientists, musicians, and thinkers.
